Matt is Byron Bay based entrepreneur, who has had a career in building businesses specializing in Property, Sports & Entertainment.
Matt was born 1971 in Sydney, Australia and gained the following qualifications: Graduated Sydney Grammar School 1989, Australian Securities Grad. Dip. (Finance & Investment 1993), Land/Economics Honors Degree, University of Technology Sydney (1996), MBA Melbourne/Hull University (1998), and was appointed a NSW Justice of the Peace (JP) by his Excellency the Attorney General (1996).
After obtaining his real estate & finance qualifications Matt began his Property career as NSW Research Manager for the Builders Owners and Managers Association (BOMA), before becoming the National Research Manger for the real estate group L.J. Hooker. In 1996 he began his entrepreneurial career as Commercial Director for the Internet Service Provider Magna Data, where his team built then prepared for sale the Australian telecommunications carrier Magna Data (to ASX listed company Davnet). Prior to the acquisition by the Japanese telecommunications carrier NTT, Davnet had over 1000 employees and a market cap of US$2Billion.
In 2001 Matt moved to Los Angeles (then London & Monaco) where he spent 10 years founding then successfully Producing the football Film Trilogy Goal! which was released in 40+ countries (by Disney) and became the most watched football films of all time. The Goal! Films franchise partnered up with Hollywood, music & sports icons such as David Beckham & Oasis. Barrelle was also Executive Producer on the Official Documentary of the 2006 FIFA World Cup, directed by Michael Apted and narrated by Pierce Brosnan.
Matt’s passions include Tennis, Padel Tennis (fastest growing sport in Europe), Golf, Marathons & Surfing around Byron, and he serves as the Captain of the Aussie Padel Tennis Team and President of the Australian Padel Federation (APF). He absolutely loves living in Byron Bay with his young family and dog Rio.
